The U11LL team had an unforgettable weekend at the International Silver Stick Finals in Pelham, Ontario, from January 9–12. They came home as the U11LL Finalists, finishing in second place, an incredible achievement! π
This weekend was about more than just hockey—it was filled with friendship, team spirit, resilience and fun! The opening ceremonies on Thursday set the tone for an amazing tournament, including a lively pin-trading session where our players exchanged pins with teams from across North America - California, Ohio, Michigan, Vancouver, Ontario and more. A big thank you to Drayton Minor Hockey for providing fantastic pins for our players who represented our community so well!
Our team battled hard in the round robin, facing tough competition, including a challenging game against Petoskey from Northern Michigan. Despite the 7-0 loss in that matchup, we regrouped and made it all the way to the finals. On Sunday morning, we faced Petoskey again in a thrilling championship game, giving it everything we had but coming up just short with a 4-2 loss.
We want to thank the players for their determination and sportsmanship, they played with heart and joy and they represented Drayton so well! Thank you to the coaches and bench staff for their leadership and guidance, this weekend wouldn't be possible without your support of these players. And a big thank you to the parents for their unwavering support throughout the tournament. This weekend was a testament to the power of teamwork and the lasting memories hockey creates.
Congratulations, U11LL-White! We hope you are so proud of yourselves for this incredible accomplishment!
